An Adaptive Observer Design for a Class of State Affine Systems with Application to a Bioreactor

In this paper, we propose a new adaptive observer for a class of state-a¢ ne systems. More speci cally we consider state a¢ ne systems that are in a special observable canonical form called the Generalised Jordan Observable Canonical (GJOC) form. The observer is then employed to estimate the biomass concentration in a bioreactor, using the measurements of the substrate concentration. Simulations are carried out to show the good performance of the observer in the presence of measurement noise.
